Mercedes-Benz Vision V Van: A Mobile Theater of Luxury and Innovation

The Mercedes-Benz Vision V concept van introduces a bold transformation in automotive design—merging high-end luxury with immersive entertainment technology. Developed on the modular Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA) platform, Vision V isn't just a vehicle—it’s a mobile cinema lounge designed to redefine in-transit experiences.

Lounge-Like Interior with a Retractable 65-Inch Cinema Screen

Inside the Vision V, the rear lounge area is designed as a secluded, private space behind the cockpit. At its heart lies a retractable 65-inch 4K cinema screen, hidden beneath a center console that activates when the doors close. The screen supports split-screen use and integrates seamlessly with gaming systems, offering a full entertainment suite on the move.

The console itself is crafted with open-pore burr wood and Nappa leather, creating a luxurious tactile experience. The screen doubles as a partition, separating the lounge from the front driver’s area and turning the van into a true mobile theater.

Immersive Sound System and 360-Degree Projection Display

To complement the cinematic visuals, the cabin features a Dolby Atmos surround sound system with 42 speakers—including seat-embedded exciters that deliver haptic audio feedback. Seven built-in projectors expand the visual field onto the side windows, enabling a 360-degree immersive display that transforms the interior into an evolving lightscape.

Switchable Privacy Glass and Theatrical Entry

A major innovation in the Vision V is the switchable glass partition that uses liquid-crystal technology to turn opaque at the touch of a button. Positioned above the rollable cinema screen, it ensures complete privacy when needed.

Access to the lounge area is equally theatrical. A large automatic portal door opens on the right side, revealing an illuminated, retractable running board that signals entry into a refined, high-tech space.

Premium Materials and Multifunctional Center Console

The interior design leans into craftsmanship. Crystal white Nappa leather and silk upholstery contrast against dark burr wood panels, while polished aluminum trim strips accentuate built-in display cabinets along the walls.

The center console between the two rear lounge seats functions as both a control station and storage solution. It includes a touchpad for infotainment control, a fold-out chessboard table, and adaptive positioning based on passenger seating. A built-in game controller further emphasizes the entertainment focus.

Sleek Exterior Design with Dynamic LED Lighting

The Vision V’s exterior follows a streamlined design language. The roofline flows seamlessly into a rounded rear for a continuous silhouette, while short front overhangs and a narrowed waist enhance its aerodynamic profile.

Chrome accents and transparent light louvers span the body, providing subtle emphasis on the van’s proportions. Up front, a chrome grille with three illuminated glass bars is framed by 200 technical-style LED elements that animate when a passenger approaches. Below the hood, 190 additional louvers bridge the gap to the headlights, each showcasing the iconic Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star.

Vision V: A Preview of Mercedes-Benz’s Future Mobility

Though still a concept, the Mercedes-Benz Vision V represents the brand’s vision for luxury electric vans set to launch by 2026. It’s not just about transportation—it’s about crafting an emotional, immersive, and premium experience on wheels.

From a designer’s perspective, Vision V wasn’t built to follow convention. It was created to redefine space, sensation, and what it means to move through the world.
