Genesis GV60 Mountain Intervention Vehicle

26.01.2025

Let’s be honest: Concept cars are often an exercise in absurdity, but that's exactly what makes them so much fun to talk about. Genesis has truly outdone themselves with the GV60 Mountain Intervention Vehicle (MIV)—a machine that looks like it’s ready to tackle snowy rescues, conquer mountainous terrain, and probably star in an action-packed sci-fi thriller all at once. If there was ever a concept car that took the phrase "off the beaten path" literally, it’s this one.

The Premise: An SUV Meets a Rescue Tank

Genesis has taken their already futuristic GV60 electric SUV and transformed it into the ultimate mountain rescue vehicle—a snow-conquering beast that still manages to maintain Genesis’s luxury appeal. The snow tracks are the star of the show here. These aren't your typical snowmobiles; these are serious tracks that can chew through ice, snow, and anything else that dares to block your path—be it an avalanche or a stranded hiker halfway up a mountain.

And if you’re wondering, those widened carbon fiber arches aren’t just there for show. They protect the vehicle while helping the tracks do their thing, and they stop snow and debris from turning the inside of your SUV into a snow globe. Functional, fierce, and practical, this is like an Olympic biathlete in car form.

The Kit: Overengineered for Maximum Rescue Efficiency

Let’s talk about the gear. Genesis has clearly gone all-in with the MIV. The roof rack is basically a Swiss Army knife for mountain rescues. From ropes and axes to potentially an entire camping setup, this thing can carry it all. And if that’s not enough, the hatch features modular attachment points where you can strap on tools like winches, shovels, or—because it’s a rescue vehicle, after all—an emergency coffee maker. Let’s face it: A rescue isn’t complete without some caffeine.

Inside: Luxury Meets Rugged Adventure

And you know what’s great? Genesis didn’t forget their luxury DNA while kitting out this beast. Inside, the sporty seats are not just for looks. They’re built for comfort in extreme conditions, which is something that doesn’t often get the attention it deserves in rugged vehicles. They also didn’t skimp on the medical supplies—because, well, mountain rescues aren’t exactly tea parties.

And if the job requires powering a drone, charging phones, or running heavy rescue equipment, the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) system has got you covered. It turns this thing into a mobile power station. Need to keep your mini-fridge full of victory beers running? Genesis says: “We’ve got you.”

Under the Hood: Power When You Need It

Now, let’s get to the hardware. The MIV sticks with the GV60’s range-topping powertrain: a 483bhp dual-motor setup, a 77.4kWh battery, and a 0-62mph time in just over 4 seconds. Sure, the snow tracks and additional weight will likely affect performance and range—but honestly, when you’re piloting a tank disguised as a luxury SUV, does it really matter?

Design: Rugged Meets Luxurious

Genesis wasn’t just about brute force in this concept; the design is an absolute showcase of their luxury design language. As Luc Donckerwolke, the brand’s Chief Creative Officer, puts it: “The GV60 MIV Concept is a bold interpretation of our design language—progressive, luxurious, and built to care for its occupants in the toughest conditions.”

In other words, it’s a rolling reminder that Genesis doesn’t play it safe. This thing has futuristic elegance while maintaining the practicality needed for mountain rescues. Designed by Nikolai Schroeck in Genesis’s Design Europe studio, the MIV looks like something straight out of a mountain rescue thriller, but with a touch of luxury you’d expect from a brand like Genesis.cover-image cover-image

Debut at the 2025 World Economic Forum

Genesis knows how to make an entrance. The GV60 MIV made its debut at the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, parked proudly outside the AMERON Davos Swiss Mountain Resort. It’s the third year in a row Genesis has dropped a concept at this high-altitude event, following the X Concept (2023) and X Snow Speedium Concept (2024). Genesis clearly loves making a statement in the snow, and we’re here for it.

Is This Concept Coming to a Mountain Near You?

As with most concepts, the GV60 MIV is likely to stay a one-off—at least for now. Genesis has a history of unveiling jaw-dropping concepts that show off what’s possible, but rarely make it into production. However, if they ever decide to take this beauty to the production floor, the MIV could truly redefine what it means to have an "adventure-ready" vehicle.

For now, we'll just have to imagine scaling mountains and rescuing stranded skiers in a luxury SUV with snow tracks—and dream of the day we can take a ride in this snow-conquering masterpiece. After all, there’s nothing quite like the thought of saving lives in a luxury tank.
